Thank you to Jenny Indig and the Fern Hill Project for hosting Conversations that Matter. Yesterday, Neighbors Link’s Executive Director Carola Otero Bracco and Sarah Burrows, Esq, Director, Pro Bono & Partnerships at HIAS had a wide ranging conversation about immigration. Carola, Jenny and Sarah shared insights about what is really happening at the border based on their recent visits, and advocated for ways for local community members to get involved.

In Yonkers we had the opportunity to partner with the Yonkers Police for the very first time as part of our Family Police Initiative. We are making strides to create positive and safe spaces for our families and Yonkers police officers to engage in meaningful conversations. Our parents and police officers participated in role playing exercises, team building activities and shared information regarding community safety, support for adolescents and so much more. Thank you to Detective Sergeant Frank DiDomizio and Lieutenant Jared Singer for helping to coordinate this wonderful program with us. Special thanks to all of the officers and families who joined us for their openness, honesty and willingness to answer all of our questions. We look forward to continuing this work together!

En Yonkers tuvimos la oportunidad de colaborar con la Policía de Yonkers por primera vez como parte de nuestra iniciativa con familias y policías. Estamos trabajando fuerte para crear espacios positivos y seguros para que nuestras familias y los agentes de policía de Yonkers participen en conversaciones significativas e importantes. Nuestros padres y agentes de policía participaron en dinámicas de juego de roles, actividades de formación de equipos y compartieron información sobre seguridad comunitaria, apoyo a adolescentes y mucho más. Gracias al sargento detective Frank DiDomizio y al teniente Jared Singer por ayudar a coordinar este maravilloso programa con nosotros. Un agradecimiento especial a todos los oficiales y familias que nos acompañaron por su apertura, honestidad y disposición para responder todas nuestras preguntas. ¡Esperamos continuar este trabajo juntos!
