Yonkers
Yonkers is a diverse city in which over 30% of the population is foreign born. This diversity leads to a culturally rich community. At the same time, a significant portion of the immigrant population faces challenges such as traumatic migration journeys, low-paying jobs, employer abuses and concerns about legal status. This creates a need for programming that is proactive and effective to respond in ways that are impactful, empowering and effective.
Partnerships in Yonkers
Neighbors Link has been partnering with Westhab, a large nonprofit organization focused on quality affordable housing, to provide programming in Yonkers since 2017. In 2022, Westhab opened Dayspring Community Center, which is where Neighbors Link provides a comprehensive array of services to individuals and families in the Nodine Hill section of Yonkers. In all programs, Neighbors Link is working closely with Westhab and the local community to ensure that programs are developed to meet the specific needs of the immigrant community in Yonkers.
